A Delhi Police officer was
today slapped in the court~
room by the lawyer of Lash-
kar-e-Toiba militant Ashfaq,
the main accused in the
Red Fort shootout case.
The advocate, Mr R L
Tuffail, slapped the sub-in-
spector, Mr Harinder
Singh, in the presence of
the additional sessions
judge, Mr 0 P Saini, after
the policeman objected to
his (Mr Tuffail) "tamper-
ing" with the seal of case
properties (computers)
produced in the court.
The sub-inspector was
immediately taken away
for medical examination.
Later, he lodged a com-
plaint before the court and
filed an FIR at the area
police station. A case ~f
criminal intimidation, ob-
st~ucting a public servant
on duty and causing hurt
has been registered
against Mr Tuffail.
In his complaint before
the judge, Mr Singh al-
leged that the advocate
threatened to break his
jaw before giving him a
blow on his left cheek.

the special cell) who was
summoned as a \Vitness in
the case, was present near
the computers that were
seized from the computer
institute allegedly owned
by Ashfaq at Gafur Nagar.
The incident occurred
while another witness, Mr
Mohammed Khalid, who
had allegedly sold the com-
puters to the main accused,
was deposing before the
court. Mr Khalid identified
the accuss:d and the com-
puterS that were present in-
side the courtroom.
